A prominent Democrat activist was indicted for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old boy. The suspect, 66-year-old Terrence Patrick Bean, was a co-founder of Human Rights Campaign, which takes a pro-abortion stance. Go To Site

Bean is a well-known Portland real estate developer who helped found the Human Rights Campaign, a national organization that fights for gay rights, and has donated thousands to politicians. He is also a serious player in Democratic politics and has personally met President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of State John Kerry. Go To Site

Though both orders are now closed, each depicts an altercation in February that ended with police involvement. Both parties stated violence occurred at Lawson’s condo, which he appeared to be renting out from Bean. Both allege they were hit by the other. Neither Bean nor Lawson were arrested after the fight. "He helped found two major national political groups, the Human Rights Campaign and the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund and has been a major contributor for several Democratic presidential candidates, including Barack Obama." A prominent gay rights activist charged last week with sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy is a strong supporter of President Obama who has visited the White House more than a half-dozen times in the past two years, visitor logs show. Terrence P. Bean, 66, who raised more than a half-million dollars for Mr. Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012, last visited the White House on May 30 when he met with the president, first lady Michelle Obama and political adviser David Simas.

  White House visitor logs show that Mr. Bean, co-founder of the Human Rights Campaign, a leading gay rights group, also has visited the White House on at least six other occasions since June 2012. On one visit in 2013, Mr. Bean brought along Kiah Lawson, described in news reports as his ex-boyfriend, who is also charged with sexually assaulting the juvenile.

Terrence Patrick Bean: Indicted

Detectives from the Portland police Sex Crimes Unit arrested Portland developer Terrence Patrick Bean on Wednesday on a Lane County indictment stemming from alleged sex abuse involving a teenage boy in 2013.

The former boyfriend of Terrence P. Bean was arrested early Thursday on sex abuse charges stemming from the same alleged 2013 encounter with a 15-year-old boy at a hotel in Eugene. Kiah Loy Lawson, 25, was arrested at 1:15 a.m. at the Portland Police Bureau's Central Precinct and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center shortly after 2 a.m.

  He's accused of third-degree sodomy and third-degree sexual abuse. Lawson is expected to be transferred later Thursday to Lane County, where he was indicted, according to jail officials. His bail was set at $50,000. Detective Jeff Myers from the Portland's Sex Crimes Unit made the arrest, hours after police took Lawson's ex-boyfriend, Portland developer Terrence Patrick Bean, into custody Wednesday morning.
