The Jussie Smollett Hate Crime Hoax
Cops now suspect that actor Jussie Smollett staged what was first investigated as a hate crime, Chicago police sources are telling various news outlets, making this the latest of several local and national incidents in which people are suspected of inventing hate crimes — which often reference President Trump.
The Jussie Smollett case, in which a young black, gay actor has apparently concocted a tale of being attacked by two white men wearing MAGA hats and shouting anti-gay slurs, is just the latest example of how desperately media elites want to confirm their favored narrative about America: that the country is endemically and lethally racist, sexist, and homophobic, and that the election of Donald Trump both proves and reinforces such bigotry.

As the story unraveled and as police began to prove it was obviously all a hoax, CNN went full-bore in the other direction, finally turning against the Empire star, with a panel of guests denouncing what what many suspected all along — that Smollett staged a hate crime hoax.

Smollett’s story never made sense, and it came completely unraveled last week after Chicago police apprehended two of the Empire actor’s friends when they flew into O’Hare Airport, returning from a trip to Nigeria.
According to reports by Chicago’s WBBM-TV and other outlets, brothers Abimbola “Abel” Osundairo and Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo were paid $3,500 by Smollett to stage the fake hate crime.

“I’m pissed off,” Smollett told Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts. “What is it that has you so angry? Is it the attackers?” said Roberts. “It’s the attackers, but it’s also the attacks. At first, it was a thing of, like, ‘Listen, if I tell the truth, then that’s it. Because it’s the truth,” he said. “Then it became a thing of, like, ‘Oh, it’s not necessarily that you don’t believe that this is the truth, you don’t even want to see the truth.”

Jussie Smollett’s attorney said the former “Empire” star was “a real victim” of a crime on Monday while prosecutors said he staged a hate crime during the opening arguments of Smollett’s trial in Chicago.
Smollett “developed a secret plan that would make it appear that there was actually a hate crime that actually occurred against him by supporters of Donald Trump,” special prosecutor Dan Webb told jurors, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Webb slammed Smollett’s allegedly false police report as a “despicable act” that “denigrated something as serious as a hate crime.”... He said Smollett hired the two brothers to help stage the crime and even had a “dress rehearsal” beforehand. He also said to put a rope around his neck to “make it look more like a lynching, like a hate crime.”
According to Webb, Smollett sent a text message to the brothers that said: “I want you to attack me, but when you hit me, I want you to kind of pull your punches a bit because I don’t want to get seriously hurt.”
2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Senator Cory Booker described the attack as “an attempted modern-day lynching.” He used the incident to press for more hate-crime legislation. California senator Kamala Harris, who is leading the polls for the 2020 race, repeated Booker’s words.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi described the attack as “an affront to our humanity.” Freshman congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez castigated media for describing the incident as a “possible” hate crime. Her colleague Rashida Tlaib wrote that “the right wing is killing and hurting our people.”

Instead we once again see CNN and virtually all other left-leaning mainstream outlets spreading legitimately fake news like wild-fire merely because a given narrative is politically and ideologically convenient to their corporate owners, because you know... MAGA.
The mere mention of "White men in MAGA hats" immediately crushes the mainstream's ability for critical analysis, as many recent instances of embarrassing media mea culpas prove.

The 36-year-old actor was exiting a restaurant in the 300 block of East North Water Street when two suspects began yelling racial and homophobic slurs toward him. They then proceeded to attack Smollett, punching him before pouring an unknown chemical substance over him, police said. At some point during the attack, one of the suspects wrapped a rope around Smollett's neck...
Around 4:35 p.m., police confirmed to THR that Smollett told them his attackers yelled pro-"Make America Great Again" (MAGA) comments during the attack, such as "MAGA country!"
The media has comported itself badly as well. Almost immediately after getting the Covington Catholic story so wrong, many in the news industry immediately accepted the Smollett story as true.

The envelope appears to say “MAGA” (Make America Great Again) in the upper left corner, though it is not entirely clear.

Over the weekend, Facebook prevented people from sharing two conservative articles on the unraveling case of Empire star Jussie Smollett, which seems to be a hate hoax. Both Rod Dreher, author of The Benedict Option: A Strategy for Christians in a Post-Christian Nation, and Daily Caller reporter Jen Kerns saw their articles censored on Facebook.
"You are not allowed to say on Facebook that Jussie Smollett carried out a hate hoax," Dreher tweeted on Sunday with a screenshot of Facebook blocking his article at The American Conservative.

After a contentious week of witness testimony, counsel arguments and deliberation, the jury found Smollett guilty on the first five counts, and he was acquitted on a sixth count of lying to a detective weeks after Smollett said he was attacked...
He was found guilty of telling a police officer he was a hate crime victim, telling an officer he was a battery victim, telling a detective he was a hate crime victim, telling a detective he was a battery victim and then telling a detective again he was battery victim.
Count 1 accused him of telling responding Chicago Police Officer Muhammed Baig at around 2:45 a.m., some 45 minutes after the purported attack, that he was the victim of a hate crime. He said two attackers put a rope around his neck. Count 2 referred to Smollett telling the same officer he was a victim of a battery, describing attackers beating and pouring bleach on him.
Counts 3 and 4 stemmed from Smollett making the same claims but to a different officer, Kimberly Murray, later that morning, just before 6 a.m. Count 5 accused Smollett of again telling Murray at around 7:15 p.m. that he was the victim of a battery.

Embattled actor Jussie Smollett was sentenced to 150 days in jail and 30 months' probation Thursday for falsely reporting to police that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in 2019.
"You're just a charlatan pretending to be a victim of a hate crime," Cook County Circuit Judge James Linn told Smollett while announcing the sentence in Chicago...
Smollett, 39, the former star of "Empire," was found guilty by a Chicago jury in December of five counts of felony disorderly conduct. He was found not guilty of the sixth charge, aggravated battery.

Judge Linn tore into Smollett during his sentencing and said that for a person with his background in social justice to now be sitting in front of him convicted of faking a hate crime, “the hypocrisy is just astounding.” Judge Linn also denied that this was a crime of impulse and told Smollett that he had premeditated his crime. “You did wake up in the morning thinking you were going to do something bad and wrong,” he said. “You paid them in advance by check. You chose a date, you chose a time, you had props prepared…and then you did rehearsals!”
Judge Linn continued going over every detail of the faked hate crime in painstaking detail. “I repeat,” said the judge after describing the events. “You put the noose around your own neck. You caused great distress throughout the city and the community…that’s why we are here now.”
“I thought the jury’s verdict was accurate and correct,” said Judge Linn. He also berated Smollett for using public officials like Kamala Harris and Don Lemon among others to spread his false narrative, saying Smollet has displayed “arrogance, selfishness, and narcissism that’s just disgraceful.”
This ditz committed the dumbest fake hate crime in history against himself, and now he’s been proven guilty in a court of law.
It’s actually a relief to see justice being served. Not “social justice” or “racial justice” or any other kind of “justice” that apparently requires a modifier. Just plain old justice.
