The teen said he and his friends were playing a street game called "knockout." His punch apparently had little to no effect, but the follow-up from a 16-year-old boy caused bleeding in the victim's brain, and he died in late May.
This disturbing game is a hit with goons. "Knockout" is an emerging trend among unhinged teens that consists of targeting a passerby at random and trying to lay them out with one punch. That's it. Participants call this — the game's singular move — the "one hitter quitter." -Michael Walsh

Cleveland authorities have made several arrests following the mob beating of a disabled Army veteran by a group of teenagers. During the attack, the teens made several derogatory remarks about Robinson. “What they were saying was, ‘Knock that boy out!’ ‘White boy.’ ‘Cracker,’” he was quoted as saying about the incident. “They were saying, ‘Knock that white boy out.’”

An African-American teenager, currently on probation for a robbery conviction, is in custody for assaulting a Rochester woman with a roundhouse punch to the back of her head... Laughing excitedly, he tells his partner that he is going to “smack the old lady with the snowball when she come out the store.” The video reveals that Devin changed his mind and instead delivers a left-handed blow to the head of the defenseless woman. Quickly thereafter, the twosome runs away while the cameraman yells, “She gonna call the cops.”

One victim told police, "He just started to punch me in the face multiple times for no reason. And then the black male started to kick me in my body and head. I blacked out a little and all I heard him saying was get off my block." Investigators say many of the attacks are strikingly-similar to the so-called "Knockout Assaults" in Brooklyn and elsewhere. Darryl Jones says this latest arrest could not come soon enough. "Right after he assulted me, the next day he assaulted someone else down the street and someone after that. The guy is a terror," Jones says.

A 76-year-old Brooklyn woman was punched in the back of the head by a stranger in what residents fear could be the city's tenth "knockout game" attack. Yvonne Small fell to the ground after being punched by her assailant on Alabama Ave. and Wortman Ave. in East New York about 11:35 a.m., according to police sources.

In New Jersey, CBS 2 reports, video footage shows Ralph Santiago, 46, randomly targeted for knockout by a group of teens. Santiago was later found dead with his neck broken and head lodged between iron fence posts, according to NJ.com. Video shows Santiago walking during daytime in an alley, and just as he’s about to pass a pack of teenagers, one launches the fatal, knockout blow.

A disturbing and brutal game among teens is also targeting other victims in other cities. Just last week, CBS 2’s John Slattery reported on a disturbing series of attacks on Jews in Brooklyn. Now we’re find out New York City is not alone. Brutal video is coming in from various places, including Pittsburgh, where a teacher was attacked, and London, where a teen was hit from behind. On Tuesday afternoon, CBS 2 learned of another victim — a 78-year-old woman attacked a week ago Saturday in Midwood. It’s called the “knockout game.”
