A new study finds that human-caused climate change was a major trigger of Syria’s brutal civil war. -Joe Romm, ThinkProgress Go To Site

As international tensions heat up over Syria, many global warming activists are trying to capitalize on the situation by blaming man-made global warming for the conflict. Specifically climate change promoters are blaming recent droughts on global warming. Go To Site

Social justice activist teachers see natural disasters like the recent Hurricane Sandy as opportunities to bring their political agendas into the classroom. And they rarely miss an opportunity. Writing for the far-left Zinn Education Project (named for the late communist professor Howard Zinn), Portland, Oregon high school teacher Tim Swinehart opined: “Hurricane Sandy, and the superstorms that will follow, are not just acts of nature—they are products of a massive theft of the atmospheric commons shared by all life on the planet. Every dollar of profit made by fossil fuel companies relies on polluting our shared atmosphere with harmful greenhouse gases, stealing what belongs to us all. But if we don’t teach students the history of the commons, they’ll have a hard time recognizing what—and who—is responsible for today’s climate crisis.” Go To Site

Climate change is poised to affect the health of Americans in every part of the country, a new report says. The report, published today (March 15), comes from a new group made up of 11 medical organizations, including allergists, pediatricians, infectious-disease doctors, OB/GYNs and gerontologists. "Doctors in every part of our country see that climate change is making Americans sicker," Dr. Mona Sarfaty, the director of the new group, called the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health, said in a statement.

Hillary Clinton was campaigning in Coralville, Iowa on Tuesday and addressed the growing Syrian refugee crisis where hundreds of thousands of people have poured into Europe. Why many blame crisis on the nearly five-year long Syrian Civil War, the Democratic frontrunner had a different diagnosis.

“It’s an international problem and I think we should have more of an international response,” Clinton said. “But then we have to ask ourselves why is this happening? And why is this happening, because of terrible governance, because of corruption, because of conflict, because of climate change.

Even as wildfires cool in San Diego, Gov. Jerry Brown is heating up his argument that what the state really is battling is global warming... The governor repeated his belief that this spring's fire season, already consuming 25,000 acres and destroying dozens of homes in San Diego County, has been worsened by climate change brought on by human activity.

Warmer temperatures have resulted in dwindling Adélie and chinstrap populations. The gentoos, however, are able to adapt to increased temperatures better since they live in the Peninsula year-round. They’re doing it and doing it and doing it well — because they’ve been able to shift their breeding cycle earlier, their populations are actually growing.

And you know look – yesterday, or the day before yesterday, we had the tornado in Minneapolis,” Roker said. “We have had these tornadoes and earlier this week we had a tornado in Philadelphia. And so, you know our weather, or climate change is such now that we are seeing this kind of weather not just in rural parts of our country, but in urban centers as well.

It didn’t take long for the propaganda mill of the warming religion to spool up. I first noticed it in a tweet from the so-called “science” guy, Bill Nye: CNN about fires in Colorado. I was just there. It’s the real (bad) deal. Just the start of things climate change-wise. The next day, he followed up: MSNBC with Ed Schultz. "We’re talking fires, heat, and climate change. Let’s see if we can convey the seriousness & convince a few citizens." My emphasis. In lockstep with the message was NBC’s D.C. weatherman, on the air: If we did not have global warming, we wouldn’t see this. Go To Site

Although the four dead bears cited in the paper were observed from 1,500 feet during flights over the Beaufort Sea, and the carcasses were never recovered or examined, Gleason told investigators it is likely the creatures drowned in a sudden windstorm that produced 30-knot winds, not for lack of an ice pack.

“We never mentioned global warming in the paper,” Gleason told the investigators, according to the transcript. “But it’s inferred,” responded investigator Eric May. “That’s why the world took it up as a global warming tangent.” Gleason told investigators that reaction to his and Monnett’s paper was overblown and spun out of context.

As predictable as the timing of the tides, a left wing think tank blames global warming for the recent tornadoes. But I must admit, Think Progress cut to the chase to save time when future weather events occur. This was the year the Earth struck back.

Earthquakes, heat waves, floods, volcanoes, super typhoons, blizzards, landslides and droughts killed at least a quarter million people in 2010 - the deadliest year in more than a generation. More people were killed worldwide by natural disasters this year than have been killed in terrorism attacks in the past 40 years combined.

“What do you think about this tornado situation that ran through, I guess it was mostly Alabama,” Maher said. “But I mean it was, we used to hear about tornados that were a few hundred yards wide. This ran 300 miles. They used to just touch down.” According to Maher, the cause of the killer tornado is obvious: Global warming. “This is global warming,” Maher declared.

UNITED NATIONS (Aug. 20) -- Pakistan is awash with the worst flooding in more than a century; Russia fights wildfires stemming from unprecedented high temperatures; China faces mudslides of an intensity unseen in decades. For many scientists and political leaders, the confluence of these weather catastrophes amounts to tragic evidence that climate change is not just a future concern but a present danger.

Hours after a massive earthquake rattled Japan, environmental advocates connected the Natural Disaster to Global Warming. The president of the European Economic and Social Committee, Staffan Nilsson, issued a statement calling for solidarity in tackling the global warming problem. “Some islands affected by climate change have been hit,” said Nilsson. “Has not the time come to demonstrate on solidarity — not least solidarity in combating and adapting to climate change and global warming?” “Mother Nature has again given us a sign that that is what we need to do,” he added.
