A 37-year-old Maryland man has been charged second degree assault after allegedly making unwanted physical contact with three of his co-workers last year. According to a news release from Montgomery County Police, Walter S. Bowman of Indian Head, Md. was arrested Wednesday on three counts of second degree assault... Last August, a female co-worker reported Bowman first came up behind her and held her shoulders, and several days later, placed her in a "bear hug" and began to laugh. 64-year-old substitute teacher Stanley Covington has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon. He was the substitute teacher for a class of 15 students at Normandy Middle School Wednesday morning and tried to calm the students down and get them ready for class. A Detroit teacher is accused of chaining a nonverbal student inside a chest-high box as a form of corporal punishment that led to bruises and suffering. The law firm of high-profile attorney Geoffrey Fieger filed a lawsuit in Wayne County Circuit Court on Wednesday on behalf of Andrea Talton, mother of Ashley Speight, who was a 20-year-old special-education student at Drew Transition Center last fall. She cannot speak. The lawsuit accuses teacher Candace Wilson of chaining Speight in the box Oct. 7, causing the student to panic and topple the box over on top of herself. COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A veteran bus driver in Ohio choked a third grade special-needs student as she was driving the girl home from school in an encounter captured on video, a school official said Thursday. A surveillance system recorded the driver Tuesday afternoon while she drove the 9-year-old from school in a district bus used to transport special-needs students, Columbus City Schools spokesman Jeff Warner said. He was not sure how many other children were on the bus and did not know whether the girl was injured.

Police arrested a popular San Luis Obispo High School teacher on March 29 after he sent threatening emails and then created a ruckus when he refused to leave the district’s continuation campus. Brian Sanford Miller, 55, had been on voluntary leave from SLO High when he showed up at the Pacific Beach Continuation High School and asked what math classes he would be teaching in the fall of 2012. A Crystal Lake Middle School teacher was arrested and charged with grand theft of a firearm and battery, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said Thursday. TOLLAND — Middle school gym teacher Steven J. Tozier, who was fired as coach of the Tolland High varsity boys’ basketball team in 2010 for inappropriate behavior, is facing criminal charges after a student said Tozier put him in a headlock, causing him to hit his head against a wall. Pamela H. Nelson was fired later in the day at a school board meeting. Kimberly Price admitted to police she 'saw red' during the violent confrontation with two 14-year-old girls.
