Basket #3: The Deplorables. This basket includes ‘the racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic—you name it.’
“The Deplorables always got a laugh, over living-room chats in the Hamptons, at dinner parties under the stars on Martha’s Vineyard, over passed hors d’oeuvres in Beverly Hills, and during sunset cocktails in Silicon Valley."
Enough! Enough! For months, the so-called liberal elite has been writing articles, having radio and TV discussions, giving sermons (literally) and making speeches in which it has struggled to understand those strange creatures: ordinary people.
The elite is bemused by what drives these people to make perverse decisions about Brexit and Trump. Are they racist, narrow-minded or just stupid? Whatever the reason, ordinary people have frankly been a disappointment.
I have spent my life as a Democrat which probably isn’t that surprising considering that I am African-American. One of the things that always attracted me to the party were the ideals of equality, fighting for the little guy and our openness to differing opinions, but lately I have seen my party take a turn that makes me uncomfortable.
Somewhere along the way we stopped fighting for the little guy and became the party of the smug, educated elites who look down on those with less education and deem them unable or unworthy of being able to make personal decisions for their own lives.
There is a smug style in American liberalism. It has been growing these past decades. It is a way of conducting politics, predicated on the belief that American life is not divided by moral difference or policy divergence — not really —but by the failure of half the country to know what's good for them.

Politico reporter Marc Caputo faced backlash on Twitter after he mocked President Donald Trump's supporters for heckling CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta, calling the president's supporters "garbage" and saying they didn't have any teeth.
In a now-deleted tweet, Caputo commented on the video, saying, "If you put everyone's mouths together in this video, you'd get a full set of teeth."

The Justice Department inspector general released a 500-plus page report on misconduct by FBI agents and DOJ staff working on the Hillary Clinton investigations. Among many other topics, the IG report documents the content of texts and instant messages sent by FBI agents.
The communications show favoritism towards Hillary in the agents' personal views, but also in how various aspects of the investigation should be conducted. They also reveal a rancid contempt towards Donald Trump as well as Americans who support him.
One FBI agent on the Hillary investigation wrote in an FBI text: Trump’s supporters are all poor to middle class, uneducated, lazy POS.
There’s “a bit of elitism that’s crept in” to party thinking.

A Democratic lawmaker from California referred to Middle America as "Podunk, USA," during a committee meeting last week, several sources inside the meeting told the Washington Free Beacon. Remarks by Rep. Anna Eshoo (D., Calif.) during a closed-door Energy and Commerce Committee meeting with Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai raised eyebrows from those present.

Metallica frontman James Hetfield said last week that he moved from his long-time home in San Francisco, California because he could not handle the city’s “elitist attitude” anymore... Hetfield has lived in northern California for several decades but says he decided to leave because he is looked down upon by San Francisco residents, who are known for making up one of the most liberal communities in the country. Hetfield said he was viewed negatively for his lifestyle and political views, claiming the San Francisco Bay Area only accepts diversity if “you’re diverse like them.”

Iowa Democrat Bruce Braley, who is running to replace Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), apologized on Tuesday for attempting to insult Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) by pointing out that he is just a “farmer from Iowa who never went to law school.”

"One of the things the decider-in-chief has to do is decide whether he’s going to bring this country together across all its diversity or let it drift apart. Look at how much stronger the American military is because it is less racist, less sexist and less homophobic and we’re just looking for people who can do the job," said Clinton.

Cambridge Librarian Receives Gift
of Dr. Suess Books from First Lady
Liz Phipps Soeiro's Response:
"So, my school doesn’t have a NEED for these books. And then there’s the matter of the books themselves. You may not be aware of this, but Dr. Seuss is a bit of a cliché, a tired and worn ambassador for children’s literature...
"Another fact that many people are unaware of is that Dr. Seuss’s illustrations are steeped in racist propaganda, caricatures, and harmful stereotypes. Open one of his books (If I Ran a Zoo or And to Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, for example), and you’ll see the racist mockery in his art.

The president of Estonia chewed out Paul Krugman on Wednesday, using Twitter to call the Nobel Prize-winning economist "smug, overbearing & patronizing," in response to a short post on Estonia's economic recovery...
President Toomas Hendrik Ilves responded to Krugman in a series of outraged tweets, taking offense to Krugman's tone and writing that Krugman didn't know what he was talking about. "We're just dumb & silly East Europeans. Unenlightened. Someday we too will understand," he tweeted. "Guess a Nobel in trade means you can pontificate on fiscal matters & declare my country a "wasteland". Must be a Princeton vs Columbia thing."
Rolling his eyes, Prof. X went on to say that he was wary of accepting a position on this lowly commuter campus, with its working-class student body.
The disconnect between leftists' announced value of championing the poor and the leftist practice of expressing snobbery for them stung me.
Already vulnerable students would be taught by a professor who regarded association with them as a burden, a failure, and a stigma.

Elitist stereotyping from The Hill...
A flyover state is the huge region between the coasts. As opposed to the eastern seaboard, northern post-industrial states and Pacific Ocean states.
They're overwhelmingly Republican, stanchly conservative, regressive right wing, evangelical Christian and working class, well, the loudest, most ill-informed of them are.
"Progressives are people who think America lacks an aristocracy. They nominated themselves for the job."
"The public is a swarm of hostile morons, I told her. You don't need to make them understand you; you just need to defeat them, or wait for them die."

Liberal Virtue Signaling...
"Being 'pro-science' has become a bizarre cultural phenomenon in which liberals (and other members of the cultural elite) engage in public displays of self-reckoned intelligence as a kind of performance art, while demonstrating zero evidence to justify it."

Times are tough for everyone. Including gazillionaire John Kerry. The Massachusetts senator is under fire for docking his brand new $7-million yacht in Rhode Island. It's not illegal to moor your boat there or anything. It's just that Rhode Island doesn’t have a boat sales and use tax anymore.
"Some of the biggest cases of mistaken identity are among intellectuals who have trouble remembering that they are not God."
